Most of the CDE Software's downloads are designed to be all-in-one installers, meaning that if the software has not been previously installed, the installer will install all of the product files. If the software has been previously installed, then the installer will only update files that are not current with the installer. PrerequisitesPlease note that if the destination computer's operating system has Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, please install the free Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 which is located on Microsoft's website. This is necessary for proper installation of our software. The Windows Installer 3.1 is normally an option in Window's Updates and normally is installed if the computer has been kept up to date with security fixes and updates. To go to the download page for Windows Installer 3.1, please click here and select WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe to download and install. Directions:The installers are generally too large to save directly to a floppy disk. So please save the installer to DESKTOP to insure plenty of room. After the file has been transferred, it can be moved to a different location or copied to a USB removable drive or burned to a CD-ROM using the CD writing software installed on the computer. Highspeed Connections:- Click the DOWNLOAD NOW icon.
- When prompted to save or run the download, select SAVE.
- When prompted for a location to save the program, select DESKTOP.
- If downloading the software on a computer that is NOT the destination computer, then copy the downloaded installer to a removable media device (USB Memory Drive) or burn it to a CD-ROM. Transport it to the final destination computer and copy the installers to the computer desktop. Double-click the installer to begin. Follow the instructions.
- If you are downloading the software on a computer that IS the destination computer, then Double-click the installer to begin. Follow the instructions. You can always copy the download installers to a removable media device (USB Memory Drive) or burn it to a CD-ROM for future reinstallation.
- [Optional] Use a MD5 Check Sum utility to verify that the downloaded program has the same checksum value listed above.
Dialup Connections:- Due to the sizes of the installers, it will take some time to download the installers. We strongly recommend using a download manager to handle situations, such as disconnections during the long transfer. There are several free and inexpensive download managers. GetRight, which is located at http://www.getright.com has worked very well.
- Follow the directions for Highspeed. The download manager may give you a slightly different prompt or save your download in a different location than the desktop. This is fine, as long as YOU know where it's being saved.
- [Optional] Use a MD5 Check Sum utility to verify that the downloaded program has the same checksum value listed above.
